    The Gathering

    THE GATHERING comenzo como una banda de  doom/gotico metal holandesa que ha acabado trascendiendo tal etiqueta para abrazar conceptos más experimentales hasta llegar a su actual autodenominación, Trip-rock.

     

    Historia

     Se formó en 1989 en la localidad de Oss, por los hermanos Hans y René Rutten, junto a Bart Smiths .

    Tiempo después decidieron audicionar para el puesto de vocalista del grupo, debido que Niels, vocalista procedente del Punk, no llenaba las espectativas del grupo. Fue ahí cuando Anneke Van Giersbergen, una joven de 22 años con grandes dotes musicales fue elegida para ser la nueva vocalista del grupo. En 1995 Grabaron Mandylion, el primer disco de la nueva era de The Gathering que sería un nuevo, y a la vez exitoso, punto de partida.

    Anneke van Giersbergen, nacida el 8 de Marzo de 1973, es la vocalista y principal compositora de la banda de Gothic/Doom Metal holandesa The Gathering desde 1995. También ha colaborado con otras bandas tales como Lawn, The Farmer Boys, Ayreon y Napalm Death.
